L’addition, s’il vous plaît
L’addition, s’il vous plaît turns a fleeting meal into a carefully observed portrait of consumption, ritual and memory. Rendered in pastel pencil, it shows a solitary oyster at the centre of an elegant plate, and treats the remains of a meal as a subject worth contemplation. The French title, usually spoken at the end of a restaurant meal, points to the moment when enjoyment gives way to reflection — the line between indulgence and conclusion. Through scale and precision, it asks the viewer to reconsider ordinary moments that are often quickly forgotten.
