A due mani
This work explores the relationship between realism and abstraction using a hyperrealistic technique. Rebecca has meticulously reproduced a drawing originally made by a three-year-old boy. Her practice is usually associated with precision, detail and observation; this piece takes on the spontaneous, intuitive creativity of a child. She is interested in the idea that children may be the most naturally abstract artists — unrestricted by rules, expectations or representation, making images that are honest, imaginative and direct. Rendering that drawing with painstaking realism asks the viewer to reconsider the line between abstraction and representation, and the value of creativity in its purest form.
