Mahlet Leake

Mahlet Leake is a multidisciplinary artist, muralist and architectural designer. Her practice is rooted in Ethiopian heritage and informed by an exploration of human emotion, identity and psychology. Based in Addis Ababa, she is currently working from South Africa. The work moves between art, design and visual storytelling, using each medium to examine the relationship between the internal self and the spaces we inhabit.

Drawing from personal and collective experience, she explores the full spectrum of human emotion — from vulnerability and pain to resilience, transformation and power. The practice is grounded in the belief that beauty can emerge from discomfort, and that art can create space for reflection, healing and connection.
