I wander through cities, taking photographs that I later use to develop my work. I'm a city person and I like to immerse myself in the crowd, a crowd that attracts me, paralyzes me, moves me, surprises me, pulls me in, stirs me…

My paintings revolve around the “act of looking”; around how we observe those around us and how it acts as a filter that selects, almost unconsciously, what we should ignore.

Most of the time, it's not our eyes that see, but our minds: we perceive the world as we are. That's why I propose unlearning how we look in order to see again, training our gaze towards others, focusing on the unpainted areas. That's where I want the viewer to pause: not on the obvious, but on the invisible, not seeking the easy way out, but questioning why they see what they see.
