Gabriela Aleksandra Szuba

Gabriela Aleksandra Szuba, known as GAS, is a Polish artist living and working in Italy. After training in economics she chose another calling: art. It was not a sudden decision, but a slow return to herself, and to the need to turn what she feels into form and colour.

She paints in silence. Layer after layer, the canvas becomes a place of listening and of waiting. Crackle paste, pigments, gold that lights like a prayer: each element is a fragment of memory, a trace of time, a wound that knows how to become beauty. Working with the hands, touching the surfaces, watching the cracks appear is for her an act of truth — a way of making peace with imperfection and with life itself.

She does not try to tell stories, but to evoke inner spaces. Suspended places where matter becomes meditation, where the crack is not a break but a passage, a threshold toward something deeper. It is like letting the canvas breathe, carrying with it the lights, the shadows and the pauses that inhabit her inner world.

The works have been shown in galleries and exhibitions in Italy, Switzerland, Argentina and the United Kingdom. For her every exhibition is an encounter: not only with those who look, but with the shared silence that art can create — a time outside time, where feeling is recognised without the need for words.

Essential and Phanerosis. First listed work: AION. Further pieces from both series follow as the studio files arrive.
